100-Year Makeover: Federal Brace with Lowe's and Chris Loves Julia

Press Release from Federal Brace

May 25, 2017 - Charlotte, NC - Federal Brace recently partnered with Lowe’s Home Improvement Stores and DIY home renovation duo Chris and Julia Marcum, of Chris Loves Julia , on the renovation of a historic Baltimore, Maryland row house built over one hundred years ago. The project was planned for weeks, but took place over the course of merely three days, with a professional and experienced team assembled by Chris and Julia: Daniel Kanter of Manhattan-Nest.com , Kim and Scott Vargo of YellowBrickHome.com , and Brandon Marcum. The team completed their project in the allotted time and with a very low budget point, leaving happy homeowners and a gorgeous newly renovated home.

The team employed a variety of DIY innovations and improvements to make the space more livable and enjoyable. They tore down plaster walls, installed cabinetry and light fixtures, increased storage space, built a butcher’s block, and increased the spaciousness of the room by raising the ceiling, and much more. Throughout their journey, much of the ingenious work was done by these skilled craftsmen, however, they did use several brands through the kitchen and bath. Valspar paints, stock cabinets and project boards from Lowe’s, flooring by Pergo, lighting by Allen + Roth were all included in the final design. The budget, of just over 4,500 USD, included new appliances from Frigidaire, Samsung, Broan, Whirlpool, and VIGO. Federal Brace’s Universal Shelf System was spray painted flat black and used to increase storage within the new kitchen space.
