When French and American husband and wife team began Pavé Tile in 2000, it was their shared passion for this hand-crafted and organic product that sparked their interest artistically and technically. Growing up in Nice, François would spend summers at his Grandparents home in Provence where handmade tomette tile covered every floor. French reclaimed terra cotta tiles - salvaged from old farmhouses and chateau around France - are valued for their durability, color variation and patina. Like 100 years ago, these factories still fabricate exquisite terra cotta tile flooring following the same authentic process that allows re-installation of century old tiles. Using these new hand made terra cotta tiles as their canvas, Pavé Tile recreates the look of centuries old terra cotta tile flooring from Old World Europe. It has taken over 11 years to refine these techniques. The Terra Cotta Tile Collections offered at Pavé Tile are Emmi's original designs inspired by old world European aesthetics.
