Classic™, takes its inspiration from the massive black metal canopies used to vent the old wood burning stoves. Numerous design prototypes were set aside before arriving at the finely radiused profile. The overriding design objective was to overcome the awkward, bulky shape of other manufacturers attempting a similar design. Gone are the standing ribs required by the crude fabrication technique of days past. They have been replaced by the ABBAKA fusion weld that seamlessly forms the hood without trace of joints. To accent and emphasize the hood’s gentle contour, bands have been added to the face of the hood. Should one choose, true round head solid rivets of brass, copper or steel may be added as decorative elements to the bands or hood body itself. Completing this design is an apron that adorns the hood’s bottom edge. A half inch reveal is used to offset and emphasize this detail.
Shown is Abbaka's Antique Bronze finish on the Classic. It has the appearance of “oil-rubbed bronze, a rich, slightly metallic golden brown. Similar in shade to bronze sculpture or statuary, though not as dark or cold, the look is achieved using a special formula of chemicals creating this patina which is then sealed with a semi-gloss lacquer to ”freeze” the aging process.
